Solent Devils 2025/26 Player Signing – Aston Lacey

LACEY LACES FOR SOLENT

The Solent Devils are pleased to confirm the signing of Forward Aston Lacey as apart of the prior announced two-way contract with the Solent Junior Devils!

The 2024/25 season was Aston’s first in the Solent Devils development pathway.
The season saw him spend most his time playing for the Solent Junior Devils of NIHL 2.

For the Division 2 team, Aston finished at half a point a game with 7 points in 14 games, 6 of which were goals!

Late in the season, Lacey was called up to the Solent Devils (NIHL 1) where he stood up as a team player and even picked up his first NIHL 1 point scoring a goal!

Lacey finished the season playing 8 games for the Solent Devils where he had 2 goals for 2 points as a depth piece.

Lacey’s impressive first season with the team and chemistry in the room lands him a new two-way contract for this upcoming season.

After re-signing with the team, we sat down with Aston to ask him a few questions to reflect on his achievements and to look ahead of the 2025/26 season:

To begin the interview by asking Aston about his re-signing and his overall thoughts after his first season with the team,

I’m looking forward to playing with the Devils as they are very welcoming and inclusive.
My first season with Devils last year was enjoyable because I felt like my skills were used well.

Building off of this, we asked Aston about how he plans to make the most of the two-way contract’s opportunities.

I feel like my level of hockey will improve through training with higher level players as I will learn from them and be able to take that into my time with Div 2.

Last season saw Aston play a career high in games at the NIHL1 level whereby he picked up his first NIHL 1 point.
We asked Lacey to describe how did it felt to step up in the moments and what he learnt from his experiences last season as well as what he is taking into the new year.

From last season I learnt to stay composed in stressful situations which will be useful this coming season.
I plan on focusing on being the best player I can whilst staying a team player.

Lacey concluded by talking about his first experiences with the Devils fans!

Having such a supportive crowd encourages me to perform well on the ice and put on a good show. I’m looking forward to meeting some more of the fans around the rink.

Aston Lacey will wear #88 for the Solent Devils.

Solent Devils 2025/26 Player Signing – Jack Hoppes

SOLENT RE-SIGN HOPPES!

Sunday 27th July, the Solent Devils sign their 17th player to their upcoming 2025/26 squad!

Tonight, the Devils are proud to officially reveal the re-signing of talented young Defenceman Jack Hoppes!

Hoppes adds youth, skill and speed to the Devils upcoming back-end.

The 2024/25 season saw Hoppes make the move from the Streatham Development system to the Solent Devils and instantly he had an impact!
Last season was a breakout season for Jack Hoppes with him posting a career high in points!

Hoppes’s first season for the Devils saw him step into a consistent role on the team.
Jack stepped into top defensive minutes for the team and helped the team keep the puck out of the net to help finish towards the top of the league in defensive stats.
Hoppes also stepped up contributing offensively finishing 11th in team scoring with 13 points, 5 Goals and 8 Assists, most of which were on the Power Play.

Jack also was a key part of the Devils push for silverware with him playing in all of the teams cup and playoff games.
Hoppes contributed a point in the teams cup run and was a point a game in the playoffs!

The ex Berkshire Bee and GB U18 star will join the Devils for his second season in September, here’s what he had to say about re-signing.

I’m really excited to be back with the Devils this season,
the whole organisation from supporters to the team made it an easy decision!

Last season was Hoppes’ first with the club, reflecting on this, Hoppes said:

Last season I found it to be an easy transition down to having such a great locker room and welcoming supporters.

Continuing to discuss last season, here was Hoppes’ thoughts,

Last season had its ups and downs. Most of which I really enjoyed. But I think the main objective is to finish with some silverware which we couldn’t quite get a hold of and I think we are all coming back with that in mind.

As previously mentioned, last season saw Jack play top minutes for the Devils with some time on the teams Power Play, Here’s how Jack found taking on this responsibility?

I was grateful to be trusted with the on-ice responsibilities I was given last season and can only hope to improve my impact this year.

The Solent Devils fans left an impact on Hoppes and the team,

My first impression of the supporters were how amazingly vocal and supportive they are. Playing in a smaller rink limits the number of fans we can have but they were still as loud and proud as our competition which is very encouraging when on the ice.

I cannot wait for the season to begin and am looking forward to seeing everyone whilst back on the ice!

Jack Hoppes will continue to wear #25 for the Solent Devils.
Jack Hoppes is looking for an own and loan sponsor!

Solent Devils 2025/26 Player Signing – Cameron Buckle

DEVILS BUCKLE IN YOUNG CENTER!

The Solent Devils are excited to finally reveal their latest addition to their upcoming 2025/26 squad!

Tonight, the Devils are proud to officially announce the re-signing of Forward Cam Buckle!

Buckle adds youth, skill and a key hand for face-offs to the Devils upcoming squad.

The 2024/25 season was a breakout season for Buckle at the NIHL 1 Level as he picked up 35 Points in 31 Games! (Over a point a game!)

Cam’s first season for the Devils saw him step into a consistent role on the team. Where he picked up 13 Goals and 22 Assists. Buckle also played on the Teams power play unit with 6 of his goals being on the PP!
Buckle also had a Goal in the Devils Cup Run!

Buckle will join the Devils for his second season in September, here’s what he had to say about re-signing.

I’m very excited to get the season going!
It was an easy decision to re-sign in Solent again, seeing the players we already have back and the potential we have in the room made it a no brainer!

Reflecting on his first season with the club, Cam added,

My first season as a Devil was great.
I’ve never been part of such a close nit group.
From a personal standpoint it was better than expected and I hope to build on it this season!

Building off of this, we asked Buckle what his overall outlook was of his first full NIHL 1 Season,

My overall outlook on last season was positive. We were so close to silverware and to progressing in play-offs that it’s made us all hungrier for success this season.

Continuing to discuss his favourite moment,

My favourite moment from last season is either the Cup Final and seeing how loud & passionate our fans were, following us hours away to support!
Or beating Slough to make the Cup Final. I’ve learnt a lot about how to play at this level and I’m going to continue that this season.

Joining the Devils, Cam was reunited with former teammates in Coleman, Peacock, Lackey, Sutton and Hutchison. We asked Buckle about this reunion.

Playing with old teammates made a huge difference.
It immediately makes you feel welcomed and having past knowledge on how someone plays helps massively on the ice.

Cam, What is your primary focus heading into your second season with Solent?

Big focus for the new season is to keep working on my personal game, but 100% to win a trophy.
The club and fans deserve silverware so much and I believe we have the team to make that happen!

Cam’s first experience of the Gosport Ice Arena and it’s loyal fans left an impact!

The devils supporters were unbelievable all season!
Home and away it felt like we could rely on them to make noise.
It really does spur you on in the moment and I don’t think we would’ve won some of the games we did last season without them being as loud as they were.

Buckle concluded his interview with his message to the fans!

Devils fans, I’m excited to be back and playing infront of you again!
Bring the noise we know you can and we’ll bring the results, see you in September!

Cam Buckle will continue to wear #51 for the Solent Devils.
Buckles jersey will be owned and loaned by Trane UK!

Solent Devils 2025/26 Player Signing – Daniel Lackey

LACKEY LOCKS IN

TTonight, the Solent Devils celebrate the weekend with another addition to their growing 2025/26 roster!

Tonight, the Solent Devils are excited to finally reveal the re-signing of Forward Dan Lackey!

Lackey adds experience and leadership and well as a wealth of skill to the team’s upcoming squad!

The 2024/25 season was shortened for Lackey with him only playing in 21 regular season games. However, this did not slow down his contributions as he collected 5 Goals and 8 Assists for 13 Points in those games.

Lackey also stepped up playing in the teams 4 Cup Games where he collected an assist. He also played in both of the teams Playoff Games.

After re-signing with the team, we sat down with Lackey to ask him a few questions to reflect on last season and his thoughts ahead of the 2025/26 season:

The interview begun by asking Dan how it feels to return to the Devils for his 8th season!

I’m very happy to be back, it’s a great organisation to represent.
It’s a very professional set up, with high standards and a group for great guys and girls who are involved.

Lackey has been a key part of past Devils teams, last season saw him take on a depth leadership role on the team. We asked Lackey how, as a leader, he found the younger Solent team from the past season.

I think it was a positive change, the younger lads bought a lot of energy on and off the ice!
Last year was a lot of fun and they all integrated well!
It’s a very tight knit room for sure!
As for my role, it’s nice not to have so many minutes, so a welcome rest at times!
I’m a fairly quiet guy in the room, I like to lead by example where I can by playing hard!
Not sure the fans would say I was quiet by how I am on the ice….

“Looking to next season, what is your personal focus?”

I’m hoping to contribute to a few more points next year!
After a great start in the first 8 games last year I feel as though I fell off a cliff!
I need to keep it up and help the team where I can by being more clinical.

As always, we asked Lackey to conclude his interview by giving us an insight into his experience with you, the Devils Fans!

The fans are a huge part of what makes playing at Solent enjoyable!
The turn up week in week out to cheers us on and meet up in the Sailmaker after!
It’s a great family atmosphere and when it’s bouncing in there it’s a privilege to play in front of the fans!

Let’s bring the atmosphere again next year and as a team break the Silverware curse!

Dan Lackey will continue to wear #9 for the Solent Devils.

Tonight, the Devils are proud to officially announce the re-signing of British Forward Jack Peacock!

The 2024/25 season was split for Jack, beginning the year with a stint in Oxford playing with the City Stars where he finished 3rd in their team scoring with 17 points in 17 games.
He returned to Gosport in December to play out the remainder of the season.

Full Signing Interview

We begun by discussing how Jack felt to be returning to Solent,

I’m super exited to be back with the devils, what we had last year was something special and I know when we get back to work, our possibilities are endless!

Discussing last season, we asked Peacock what made him decide to return to the south coast and if his role was altered between the teams.

After some positive conversations with Muzz, I felt the devils was the best place for me to continue my development.
In essence my role hasn’t changed much as I can be a great asset when the puck is on my stick working towards the back of the net.

In returning to Solent, Peacock was reunited with teammates from his past in Buckle, Banner and Penny. Here is what he had to say in regards to the team’s chemistry.

I think team chemistry and comradery is a very important need and can become a massive strength throughout our lines.
To play again with guys who I grew up playing with is a privilege that most hockey player’s would appreciate.

We then asked the 22 year old what he learned from his experiences last season.

I have learned a lot and I am still looking to learn.
I understood greatly the necessity for everyone to effectively contribute to the team no matter the line or position your playing in.

Peacock then stated his focus for the new season:

My focus this year is to help bring some much needed silverware home and to build on our successes from last year.

The Gosport Ice Arena has become an exciting place to play due to the passionate Solent Devils supporters and the electric atmosphere they create.
Here’s what Jack had to say about the fans!

The fans make a huge difference and we defiantly hear you!
We couldn’t ask for a better fan base and the boys really appreciate the support.

Thank you for your support Devils fans, it’s a privilege to have the opportunity to step out on ice infront of you for another season and let’s bring some silverware home
#togetherstronger

Solent Devils 2025/26 Player Signing – Mason Wild

Solent Get WILD on D!

Tonight, the Solent Devils continue to build their squad for the upcoming 2025/26 season!

This time around the Devils add stability, experience and leadership with the return of Defenceman Mason Wild!

Mason will be joining the team for his 11th season with the Devils this September!
His decadial season with the team saw him help to shut the door, keeping pucks out of the team’s defensive zone and hustling the puck into the o-zone.
He lead from the back end which saw the Devils finish 4th in goals allowed across the league as well as stepping up when it mattered most, playing in the teams Cup and Playoff Games.
During the Cup run, Wild also contributed offensively assisting on a goal!

We sat down with Mason to ask him a few questions ahead of the 2025/26 season:

Mason, What are your thoughts on being back with Solent Devils for the 2025/26 season?

I’m pleased to be back!
There’s a lot of belief in this group, and there’s a genuine hunger to push things forward this year. I’m looking forward to building on what we started!

What made you decide to return to the south coast?

It came down to the positive direction the team is heading.
There’s a strong culture here, and the support from the fans plays a massive part in that!
I still feel I have more to give, and this is the right place to do that.

Mason has become a reliable staple of the Solent Devils who has been apart of the teams biggest moments. Building off of his previous responses, we asked Mason (as a leader) what his overall outlook of the past season was,

We handled ourselves well, especially given the changes in the squad.
We had some solid performances and showed a lot of character.
There’s plenty to be proud of, but there are also areas we know we can improve.

When asked “what did you and the team learn from the previous season?” Mason replied,

With a younger team, it’s about setting the tone, staying composed in tough moments, and making sure the basics are done right.

Jumping off from this, here is how Wild believed his role adapted to the teams younger locker room,

I took on more of a leadership role, ensuring the team maintained its shape and intensity throughout the games.
Off the ice, it was about helping the younger players settle into the rhythm of senior hockey.

Discussing his focus for the upcoming season, Mason added,

The goal this season is to be more competitive across the board and challenge the top teams. We’ve got the talent and mindset to do it. We just need to put it all together consistently.

Finally, Wild wrapped up discussing how the Solent Devils fans influence the team,

It gives you a lift, especially in critical moments. When the game is on the line and the fans are cheering you on, you find that extra gear!

With his final message to the fans ahead of September being,

Thank you for always backing us. It means a lot to us, and we notice your support.
We’re putting in the work now to give you something to get excited about this season. Hopefully, we can hit the ground running and give you plenty to cheer for!

Mason Wild will continue to wear #41 for the Solent Devils!
