Solent Devils 2025/26 Player Signing – Daniel Lackey

LACKEY LOCKS IN

TTonight, the Solent Devils celebrate the weekend with another addition to their growing 2025/26 roster!

Tonight, the Solent Devils are excited to finally reveal the re-signing of Forward Dan Lackey!

Lackey adds experience and leadership and well as a wealth of skill to the team’s upcoming squad!

The 2024/25 season was shortened for Lackey with him only playing in 21 regular season games. However, this did not slow down his contributions as he collected 5 Goals and 8 Assists for 13 Points in those games.

Lackey also stepped up playing in the teams 4 Cup Games where he collected an assist. He also played in both of the teams Playoff Games.

After re-signing with the team, we sat down with Lackey to ask him a few questions to reflect on last season and his thoughts ahead of the 2025/26 season:

The interview begun by asking Dan how it feels to return to the Devils for his 8th season!

I’m very happy to be back, it’s a great organisation to represent.
It’s a very professional set up, with high standards and a group for great guys and girls who are involved.

Lackey has been a key part of past Devils teams, last season saw him take on a depth leadership role on the team. We asked Lackey how, as a leader, he found the younger Solent team from the past season.

I think it was a positive change, the younger lads bought a lot of energy on and off the ice!
Last year was a lot of fun and they all integrated well!
It’s a very tight knit room for sure!
As for my role, it’s nice not to have so many minutes, so a welcome rest at times!
I’m a fairly quiet guy in the room, I like to lead by example where I can by playing hard!
Not sure the fans would say I was quiet by how I am on the ice….

“Looking to next season, what is your personal focus?”

I’m hoping to contribute to a few more points next year!
After a great start in the first 8 games last year I feel as though I fell off a cliff!
I need to keep it up and help the team where I can by being more clinical.

As always, we asked Lackey to conclude his interview by giving us an insight into his experience with you, the Devils Fans!

The fans are a huge part of what makes playing at Solent enjoyable!
The turn up week in week out to cheers us on and meet up in the Sailmaker after!
It’s a great family atmosphere and when it’s bouncing in there it’s a privilege to play in front of the fans!

Let’s bring the atmosphere again next year and as a team break the Silverware curse!

Dan Lackey will continue to wear #9 for the Solent Devils.

Full Signing Interview

We begun by discussing how Jack felt to be returning to Solent,

I’m super exited to be back with the devils, what we had last year was something special and I know when we get back to work, our possibilities are endless!

Discussing last season, we asked Peacock what made him decide to return to the south coast and if his role was altered between the teams.

After some positive conversations with Muzz, I felt the devils was the best place for me to continue my development.
In essence my role hasn’t changed much as I can be a great asset when the puck is on my stick working towards the back of the net.

In returning to Solent, Peacock was reunited with teammates from his past in Buckle, Banner and Penny. Here is what he had to say in regards to the team’s chemistry.

I think team chemistry and comradery is a very important need and can become a massive strength throughout our lines.
To play again with guys who I grew up playing with is a privilege that most hockey player’s would appreciate.

We then asked the 22 year old what he learned from his experiences last season.

I have learned a lot and I am still looking to learn.
I understood greatly the necessity for everyone to effectively contribute to the team no matter the line or position your playing in.

Peacock then stated his focus for the new season:

My focus this year is to help bring some much needed silverware home and to build on our successes from last year.

The Gosport Ice Arena has become an exciting place to play due to the passionate Solent Devils supporters and the electric atmosphere they create.
Here’s what Jack had to say about the fans!

The fans make a huge difference and we defiantly hear you!
We couldn’t ask for a better fan base and the boys really appreciate the support.

Thank you for your support Devils fans, it’s a privilege to have the opportunity to step out on ice infront of you for another season and let’s bring some silverware home

Solent Devils 2025/26 Player Signing – Mason Wild

Solent Get WILD on D!

Tonight, the Solent Devils continue to build their squad for the upcoming 2025/26 season!

This time around the Devils add stability, experience and leadership with the return of Defenceman Mason Wild!

Mason will be joining the team for his 11th season with the Devils this September!
His decadial season with the team saw him help to shut the door, keeping pucks out of the team’s defensive zone and hustling the puck into the o-zone.
He lead from the back end which saw the Devils finish 4th in goals allowed across the league as well as stepping up when it mattered most, playing in the teams Cup and Playoff Games.
During the Cup run, Wild also contributed offensively assisting on a goal!

We sat down with Mason to ask him a few questions ahead of the 2025/26 season:

Mason, What are your thoughts on being back with Solent Devils for the 2025/26 season?

I’m pleased to be back!
There’s a lot of belief in this group, and there’s a genuine hunger to push things forward this year. I’m looking forward to building on what we started!

What made you decide to return to the south coast?

It came down to the positive direction the team is heading.
There’s a strong culture here, and the support from the fans plays a massive part in that!
I still feel I have more to give, and this is the right place to do that.

Mason has become a reliable staple of the Solent Devils who has been apart of the teams biggest moments. Building off of his previous responses, we asked Mason (as a leader) what his overall outlook of the past season was,

We handled ourselves well, especially given the changes in the squad.
We had some solid performances and showed a lot of character.
There’s plenty to be proud of, but there are also areas we know we can improve.

When asked “what did you and the team learn from the previous season?” Mason replied,

With a younger team, it’s about setting the tone, staying composed in tough moments, and making sure the basics are done right.

Jumping off from this, here is how Wild believed his role adapted to the teams younger locker room,

I took on more of a leadership role, ensuring the team maintained its shape and intensity throughout the games.
Off the ice, it was about helping the younger players settle into the rhythm of senior hockey.

Discussing his focus for the upcoming season, Mason added,

The goal this season is to be more competitive across the board and challenge the top teams. We’ve got the talent and mindset to do it. We just need to put it all together consistently.

Finally, Wild wrapped up discussing how the Solent Devils fans influence the team,

It gives you a lift, especially in critical moments. When the game is on the line and the fans are cheering you on, you find that extra gear!

With his final message to the fans ahead of September being,

Thank you for always backing us. It means a lot to us, and we notice your support.
We’re putting in the work now to give you something to get excited about this season. Hopefully, we can hit the ground running and give you plenty to cheer for!

Mason Wild will continue to wear #41 for the Solent Devils!

Solent Devils 2025/26 Player Signing – Rory Martin-Edwards

SHOT STOPPER RE-SIGNS ON SOUTH COAST

Tonight, the Solent Devils continue to add to their competitive 2025/26 roster by announcing another player!

This time around, the Solent Devils add with the re-signing of 23 year old British Goaltender #50 Rory Martin-Edwards!

The 2024/25 season saw Martin-Edwards step up and play a career high in games for Devils with 11 games started and 15 games played, 8 of which were wins!
Rory finished his senior season with .906 Save Percentage and 2.95 Goals Against Average saving 355 shots out of 392.
This saw RME finish 8th in the league for Save Percentage.

Martin-Edwards’ season also saw him play for the Devils NIHL 2 team where he had a .909 Save Percentage saving 442 shots of the 486 faced across his 10 games played.

Now, Rory re-joins the Solent Devils to continue building on the progress the team made last season!

We sat down with Rory to ask him a few questions ahead of the 2025/26 season:

We asked RME what were his thoughts on being back with the Solent Devils for his 5th consecutive season?

I’m really pleased to be back with Solent for the 2025/26 season.
The Devils have always felt like home to me — the team, the coaching staff, and the fans create such a great environment to play in.
It was an easy decision to return. I believe in what we’re building here, and I’m excited to be part of a group that’s pushing to achieve even more this season!

We followed this response up with the following, “Last season saw you be apart of a career high in games for the Devils, what was your favourite moment and what did you learn from the 2024/25 season?”

My personal highlight of the 2024/25 season was definitely the win against Chelmsford at the start of the season.
It was a huge team performance, and the energy on and off the ice was incredible!
Moments like that remind you why you play hockey.
From last season, I’ve learned the importance of consistency and staying focused through every challenge. Every game matters, and bringing your best every time makes a big difference over the course of the season. I’m taking that mindset into 2025/26 and aiming to build on it!

Building off of what Martin-Edwards learned last season, we asked what he plans to focus on for the season ahead.

My focus for the new season is to be as consistent and dependable as possible between the pipes. Staying focussed and composed under pressure on the ice. Off the ice, I’m focused on being a positive presence in the changing room and helping lead by example. Whether it’s supporting younger players or setting the standard in training, I want to contribute to a strong, united team culture that pushes everyone to be their best.

Last season saw RME make some huge saves and shut the door on some dangerous chances which set Planet Ice Gosport into an eruption of noise!
Here is what Rory had to say regarding the Passionate Devils Fans,

Playing in front of the Devils’ supporters is something special.
Their passion and energy create an atmosphere that really lifts the whole team.
As a goalie, you feed off that support — it gives you that extra drive to stay sharp and make the big saves. Whether we’re at home or on the road, knowing the fans are behind us pushes me to give everything I’ve got.
They’re a huge part of what makes playing for Solent so rewarding.

Finally, Martin-Edwards concluded with a special message to the fans!

I just want to say a massive thank you to all the fans for their incredible support — it really does mean everything to us as players.
We can’t wait to be back on the ice in September, and we’re working hard to make this season something special!
Keep bringing the noise, and we’ll keep giving you everything we’ve got! Let’s make this our biggest season yet!

Rory Martin-Edwards will continue to wear #50 for the Solent Devils in the 2025/26 season.

British Defenceman Harry Cloutman re-signs with his hometown team!

Cloutman adds additional depth and experience to the squad’s upcoming blueline.

The 2024/25 season saw Harry put up a career high in points at the NIHL 1 level!
On top of this, for the Solent Junior Devils (NIHL 2), Cloutman scored 21 points in just 9 games played!

Cloutman also stepped up to help the team battle for silverware playing in both playoff games and scoring 3 points across 4 games in the Devils cup run (Tied 3rd highest on the team)!

Cloutman returns to the team for his 7th senior season this September.
After signing with the team, we discussed the previous season and looked to his goals for 2025/26,

Cloutman’s thoughts on his return were as follows:

It great to be coming back for another year with the team,
for me it’s a very simple decision to come back, our room has a great bond in it which only seems to get stronger year on year!

Last season saw Cloutman step up as Player Coach for the Solent Junior Devils (NIHL 2),
delving deeper into this, we asked Harry what he learned from his time on the Senior Squad last season with this new view of the game,

After looking at some performances from last season and speaking to some of the lads,
I’ve learnt a lot from last year and hopefully I can implement my knowledge on how I can play going forwards.

In addition to this, Cloutman has taken on more responsibility with his role on the Devils (NIHL 1).
Recent seasons have seen Cloutman join the teams Penalty Kill unit which last season finished 3rd in the league, only falling to the top team by 0.16%.
Harry also lead the teams second Power Play unit last season.
Here is what he had to say regarding his increased role on the team.

Being given the ice time on the special teams is great,
it’s also great knowing that I can cover those roles for when I am needed to.

We asked Cloutman, “What areas do you believe you personally are going to focus on next season and what do you think the teams overall goal is?”
He answered:

For my personal focus,
I want to continue to better myself for the benefit of the team,
but a goal everyone has is to get their hands on a trophy!

To conclude, we asked Harry, “How does it feel to play in front of your hometown crowd and do you have any messages for the fans ahead of the 2025/26 season?”

Playing in front of the fans is an amazing feeling,
last season they only got better and better, and having a group of fans that are willing to come to the long away games to show their support is phenomenal!
I know the fans can bring the noise and support again this upcoming season.

Harry Cloutman will continue to wear #18 for the Solent Devils.

It really showed how much depth the team has, and when big moments like this come around, everyone stepped up and got the job done!

As previously mentioned in this article, Wedge put up a career high in goals for the Solent Devils. We asked Charlie about this achievement and how his game has evolved.
