The Solent Devils are delighted to announce the return of English defenceman, Mason Wild.
Wild returns to the team for his 127th game, accumulating 18 goals and 34 assists in past 6 seasons. The last full season ending prematurely with Wild suffering a hand injury which required reconstructive surgery, after many months he returned for the Spring Cup Series, to support the Devils in winning the cup!
Looking ahead to this season, Mason’s goal remains the same
“Hopefully, we get some silverware. We have had a long time out, but we have a great chance to be successful if we can start where we left off. Some of the top sides look tough, but I think we can give them a good run for their money.”
Head Coach, Alex Murray commented
“Mason is an integral part of our squad, he has a great work ethic and reads the game really well. Mason senses danger early and is essential on penalty kills. Fingers crossed Mason has a healthy season as he deserves one”
Reflecting on lockdown Wild says
“It was huge, being able to play hockey during covid, and especially through the lockdown. It was exactly what I needed. It was great to get back on the ice with the boys and reminded me why I love playing this sport.”
“The rest has allowed my body to recover after many years of strain and has allowed me to spend a bit more time in other areas of my life. Hopefully, once I get my fitness back up, the rest will help improve my game.”
“I want to work on my composure in defence and hopefully improve my shot to be more dangerous when needed. We’ve always had a solid team mentality and feel confident we will carry on where we left off. “
Turning to the question of favourite rink Wild finishes
“It is hard to choose a favourite, although I enjoy the rinks with slightly bigger crowds, especially when the games are competitive. The atmosphere from the supporters can really help with momentum in the game.”
