The Solent Devils continue to develop their new roster for the 2026/27 NIHL 1 South season tonight with the announcement of their 16th player!
Joining the squad, the Solent Devils are honoured to announce the return of Goaltender Aaron Taylor!
Taylor’s 2025/26 season saw him continue to push the teams competitive bar as a reliable backstop pitching a .907 in the regular season. In the teams cup run and playoff push, Taylor stood up giving the team a .926 and a .927!
Next season, Taylor returns to the crease for his 4th consecutive since his return to the ice and he looks to keep being a dependable leader, something explored in his re-signing interview.

After putting pen to paper, we sat down with Aaron Taylor to discuss last seasons lessons and his plan for the season ahead,
What are your thoughts on returning to the Solent Devils for the 2026/27 season?
My first thought is at least I can stop answering the same question over and over again “So….. are you signing next season?” I’m excited for to get back and see the boys; I’m sure Alex is doing everything in his power to put an exciting team together for the upcoming season!
Last season was a challenging one, what aspects are you planning to take from last season to build on for this upcoming season?
It was a very challenging season last year, I think we learnt that we have to be at full strength every week to pick up points in this league and unfortunately due to many different circumstances we were unable to do so. Over the course of last season, I learnt not to be too hard on myself, if things didn’t go our way, however I’m a terrible loser and a real grump to be around if things don’t go our way …. So I’d like to take this opportunity to apologise to the family in advance.
At the Solent Devils Presentation Evening, you were awarded Supporters Player of the season, what does it mean to you to be recognised for this award (especially after a challenging season) and what do you plan to take from it going forward?
To receive the award 3 years on the bounce is genuinely incredible, the way in which the fans from around the rink treat me and my family is genuinely heartwarming and one of the biggest factors in our decision to return for the upcoming season!
The league continues to push the competitive bar, as a leader, what do you think the devils greatest strength is heading into the new season?
We have a number of players in the dressing room holding others accountable and we already plan to ramp this up in 26/27 hopefully this will set us in good stead moving forward.
Finally, What is your message to the Solent Devils fans?
The fans have a weird way of knowing exactly what I’m thinking most of the time anyway, so a message to the team instead ……..Let’s get to work
