Solent Devils 2026/27 Player Signing – Calumn Perella-Fox

CAPTAIN CALUMN CAN’T BE STOPPED

The Solent Devils continue to develop their new roster for the 2026/27 NIHL 1 South season tonight with the announcement of their 9th player!

Joining the squad, the Solent Devils are honoured to announce the return of Club Captain and British Defenceman Calumn Perella-Fox!

Perella-Fox’s 2025/26 season was unexpectedly cut short with an injury that shocked the hockey community far and wide. Sunday 25th January, Calumn suffered a pneumothorax (collapsed lung) after a large hit along the boards. After an extended stay in Romford Queens Hospital, CPF was stable and eventually returned home to begin mending. As time progressed, Calumn supported the team off-ice.

The Hockey community showed union over this news with hundreds of well wishes and over £6,000 in gofundme donations to help Calumn and his family stay afloat during his absense from work.

The Captain will not be returning to the team until later into the season as he rehabs his injury and eases himself back into play. 2026/27 will be Perella-Fox’s 11th senior season with the Solent Devils.

Re-Signing Interview:

After inking the deal, we sat down with Calumn Perella-Fox to discuss his injury and the season ahead,

What are your thoughts on returning to the Solent Devils for the 2026/27 season?

I’m really happy to be back! There honestly isn’t anywhere else I’d rather be because this club means a lot to me. The Solent Devils have been a huge part of my hockey journey, and pulling on this jersey is something I never take for granted. Last season come with plenty of ups and downs, but I’m excited to get going again this year. We’ve got some new faces coming in who will hopefully bring fresh energy and a new dynamic both in the dressing room and on the ice. I’m looking forward to seeing what we can build together and hopefully giving the fans plenty to cheer about!

Last season for you was unexpectedly and undoubtedly the most challenging anyone at this level has experienced. How did your role adapt as both a player and the team captain?

Last season was definitely the toughest challenge I’ve faced in hockey and in life. Having my season cut short so suddenly was difficult both physically and mentally. As a player, it was frustrating not being able to contribute on the ice in the way I wanted to. As captain, though, I knew I still had an important role to play. My focus shifted towards supporting the team however I could keeping spirits high throughout the team, helping the younger players, maintaining standards, and simply being there for the lads. It gave me a completely different perspective on leadership and reinforced that being captain is about far more than what happens during games. Sometimes leading means helping the group through adversity and setting the right example when things aren’t going your way.

What aspects of the off-ice game did you experience last season that have impacted the way you will lead and support the team?

Being away from playing allowed me to see the game and the team from a different perspective. I realised just how important communication, positivity and consistency are especially during difficult periods. I’ve learned that leadership isn’t always about delivering speeches or making big gestures. It’s often about the small things checking in on teammates, creating the right environment, and helping everyone stay focused on the bigger picture. I’ll take those lessons into this season which will help supporting the lads both on and off the ice.

Are you able to provide a small update on your injury for the fans?

Recovery has been going really well, which I’m very pleased about. It’s obviously been a long process, but I’ve made strong progress and I’m feeling positive about where things are heading. The plan is to keep building my fitness and strength while making sure everything is right before returning fully. I hope to be back playing around the middle of the season, but I’m aiming to get back on the ice sooner than that to train with the lads and continue working hard so I’m in the best possible shape for my return. I’m taking things step by step and doing everything I can to come back stronger than before.

This upcoming season, how do you plan to approach your return and support the team?

My priority is to stay patient and make sure I come back the right way. I want to return fully prepared and in the best condition possible so I can contribute at the level I expect from myself. Until I’m back playing, I’ll continue supporting the team however I can whether that’s during training, around the dressing room, or helping to drive standards, energy, and accountability within the group. Once I’m back on the ice, my aim is to lead by example, contribute in every shift, and do everything I can to help the team.

Finally, What is your message to the Solent Devils fans?

I just want to say a massive thank you again for all the support I’ve received. The messages, encouragement, and kindness people have shown throughout my recovery have genuinely meant a huge amount to me and my family. The Solent Devils fans are the best in the league, and your support never goes unnoticed. You stick with us through the highs and the lows, and that makes a real difference to the players. I’ve missed being out there in front of you all, and I can’t wait to be back at the rink, back with the team, and hopefully back on the ice in front of everyone as soon as possible. Hopefully we can make it a season to be proud of.

Calumn Perella-Fox will continue to wear the C and #44 for the Solent Devils.

Playing for the Devils has greatly impacted my development – it’s a great team with talented and experienced players who have helped me further improve my game. Re-Signing Interview:

After re-signing, we sat down with Rory to discuss the upcoming season,

What are your thoughts on returning to the Solent Devils for the 2026/27 season?

I’m really pleased to be back with the Devils for another season. This club has played a huge part in my development over the last five years, and I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given. I’m looking forward to building on last season, continuing to improve my game and doing everything I can to help the team be successful.

Last season was a challenging one which saw you take on more opportunities against some of the league’s best players. What did you learn from last season?

Last season taught me a lot about what it takes to perform consistently at this level. Facing some of the league’s best players meant I was challenged every game, which helped improve my decision-making and mental resilience. As a goalie, you’re always going to face pressure, and I feel I’ve become much more confident in handling those situations and bouncing back from difficult moments.

Recent seasons have seen your development as a player come leaps and bounds. As a younger player, what are you enjoying about being in the Devils system the most and what are you looking to develop this season?

The biggest thing I’ve enjoyed is being able to learn from experienced players and coaches around me. The Devils have given me the opportunity to challenge myself and develop in a competitive environment. This season I’m looking to improve my consistency, become a goalie that the team can rely on whenever I’m called upon, and continue to be a positive and encouraging voice within the group. I think supporting teammates and helping maintain a good atmosphere is really important, and it’s something I want to contribute more of this season.

Finally, What is your message to the Solent Devils fans?

I’d like to thank the fans for all their support. Whether we’re at home or on the road, you can always hear the support from the stands and it makes a real difference. We’ll be giving everything we’ve got every time we step on the ice, and hopefully we can reward that support with a successful season. I can’t wait to see everyone back at Gosport and firing up country roads.

Rory Martin-Edwards will continue to wear #50 for the Solent Devils for the 2026/27 season.

Re-Signing Interview:

After re-signing, we sat down with Jack to discuss the upcoming season,

What are your thoughts on returning to the Solent Devils for the 2026/27 season?

I’m really exited to sign back with the Devils. I know we can play some good hockey this year and build upon all of the positives from last year.

Last season was a challenging one, what aspects are you planning to take from last season to build on for this upcoming season?

I think towards the back end of last year, I had the opportunity to play a role which involved a lot more ice time and responsibility which I am grateful for. This year I’m looking to bring that same style of hockey into this season and play on a line that can do some damage.

At the Solent Devils Presentation Evening, you were awarded Coaches Player, what does it mean to you to be recognised for this award (especially after a tough season) and what do you plan to take from it going forward?

To be recognised for the award was a big achievement for me. It is an award that could have gone to so many of my teammates, but definitely one I am extremely grateful for. I don’t want to look to change much in my game as I know I just need to keep putting in the work and results will come.

Finally, What is your message to the Solent Devils fans?

It’s an honour to play another season infront of you all. I know last year was a challenging season but as always, we pick back up and go again!

What are your thoughts on returning to the Solent Devils for the 2026/27 season?

I’m so excited to be back with the Devils for my third season! It’s such a great environment, all the staff, coaches and players are always pushing each other to be better, and we all are fixated on the same goal every year, having the best season possible!

Last season was a challenging one, at the Solent Devils presentation evening, you were awarded Young Player of the Year, what does it mean to you to receive this award under these circumstances and what did you learn that you plan to take forward?

Yes, last season wasn’t what we had hoped it to be, but I think on a personal level I learnt so much in how to overcome the losses and keep putting in the hard work even if we’re not getting the results we want. Winning the Young Player Award, I think, shows that this season I have still developed as a player even under some tough circumstances and it makes me so excited to see what I can achieve next year with this group!

Recent seasons have seen your development as a player come leaps and bounds, running special teams, coaching and now being a young leader, what are you enjoying about being in the devils system the most and what are you looking to develop this season?

Yes, since moving to Solent, I have learnt so much regarding hockey; whether it be on the special teams, even-handed or the mindset to go alongside the game. It all shows what a great system we have down here in developing young players. This season I feel it’s my time to step up and make a difference, after a few seasons gaining experience, I feel confident that I can make an impact this season in bringing home some silverware!

Finally, What is your message to the Solent Devils fans?

Hi everyone, after the immense continued support throughout last season, I am more excited than ever to get back in the rink and play in front of all of you for another one. Enjoy your summers and come loud and ready in September, see you soon.

Solent Devils 2026/27 Player Signing – Ralfs Circenis

RALFS RETURNS

The Solent Devils continue to develop their brand new competitive roster for the 2026/27 NIHL 1 season tonight with the announcement of their fourth player!

Joining the fast growing squad, the Solent Devils are ecstatic to announce the return of club legend, Forward Ralfs Circenis!

Ralfs Circenis will be a name that carries many highlight reel moments and team memories for fans who have been around a while. Circenis iced as a Solent Devils for stints in 2013-14 to 2015-16 before taking on competition in Canada! On his return he re-joined the squad from 2019-2021.

The 2022 season saw Ralfs step up to the NIHL National League, where he has iced for the past 4 seasons, being apart the Berkshire Bees, Bristol Pitbulls and Peterborough Phantoms where he won championships.
Now Ralfs looks to return to NIHL 1 where he has previously put up point-a-game and over a point-a-game seasons with his former club, the Solent Devils!

Signing Interview:

After signing, we sat down with Ralfs Circenis to discuss the season ahead,

What are your thoughts on returning to the Solent Devils for the 2026/27 season?

I’m really happy to be coming back to the Devils. This club has always had a special place in my heart and I always loved playing here!

The Solent Devils team looks different from the last time you were here, with some familiar faces and some new younger players. What are your thoughts on joining an exciting young team and what role are you looking to take on?

It’s definitely a different type of roster compared to last time I played here. I know the young guys are hungry and want to win. I will try to pass on my experience as much as I can to help the team reach new heights in this league!

The past few seasons have seen you travel the country as part of the NIHL National League, what have you learned over your time in that league and how has your game adapted or changed?

The national league is competitive. My game hasn’t changed, I think the reason I had offers from the national 4 years ago was due to the way I was playing so I don’t think I needed to adapt too much. I always just played my game. It takes a lot of commitment to play in the national with all the travel and that’s something that I can no longer commit to due to my work.

Finally, Ralfs, What is your message to all of the Solent Devils fans, new and old?

The Devils fans have always been the best fans in the league and have always shown me nothing but love and support. I cannot wait to be back in the Devils colours and bring the fans to the edge of their seats every game!

In addition, we sat down with Head Coach Alex Murray to gather his thoughts on inking the deal.

Naturally i’m thrilled to have secured the services of Ralfs for the 2026-27 season.

Speaking to the conversation that lead to the signing, Murray added,

One thing that stands true with Solent is the bond you create with players during their time at the club. When I spoke to Ralfs earlier in the summer, it was clear that the commitment at national level was not something he could continue with and so I’m humbled that when we spoke his word were “I wouldn’t want to play anywhere else in the NIHL 1” it’s testiment to the true friendship we have to be able to bring someone of Ralfs’ calibre back to the club, whilst still in his prime.

Murray continued to say what Circenis will add to the new roster

Ralfs will bring some much needed fire power to our forward unit as well as a work ethic and a desire to win that the younger guys can learn from.

I’m excited to see what Ralfs can do back at this level and we are very excited to have him back.

Ralfs Circenis will wear #33 for the Solent Devils.
