Solent Devils Statement on Postponed Fixtures

Solent Devils IHC have cancelled their attendance at fixtures this weekend due to COVID-19.

We were informed late Thursday evening that one of our players, with whom most of the team had been in contact with had taken the precaution to self-isolate.

On Friday we requested advice from the NIHL Management about cancelling the game, that evening the NIHL released their statement.

We notified Streatham of our intention from the outset to cancel but also stated if we were instructed to play regardless then we would have no alternative but to play, even though we did not want to.

After further discussion with the league where the majority of teams voiced concerns, this lunchtime the league informed us that it was our decision whether to play or not, we chose to cancel the game. We also decided it was not in the interest of everyone to play this game behind closed doors today given the circumstances. We are however exploring this option and will liaise with the league and Streatham in the not to distant future.

Our decision was taken with the best interests of all involved in our club, the sport and the welfare of our supporters and all our families.

We know that Ice Hockey is as important to you as it is to us and in this situation we must put our collective health first in the face of this global pandemic.

In the event that the fixture with Streatham today is rearranged pre-paid tickets will be valid, or a refund will be available, please contact devilssupporters@outlook.com if you wish to arrange a refund.

We will keep you updated as regards future fixtures via our social media presence.
