Solent Devils 2024/25 Signing Alert – Harry Cloutman

CLOUTMAN COMMITS TO SOLENT

Tonight, the Solent Devils are pleased to confirm the return of 22 year old British Defenceman Harry Cloutman for the 2024-25 season.

The former Solent Junior Devil will continue to be on a two-way contract allowing him to spend time playing for the Devils in NIHL 1 and NIHL 2.

Cloutman’s 2023-24 season saw him spend time playing for both Solent Devils teams where he collected 33 points across 38 games played.

Harry had this to say regarding his return to Gosport,

It feels good to be back, I can’t wait to get back with the team. I’m excited to get back out there in front of the fans at the thunderdome!

At the Solent Devils presentation evening, Harry Cloutman recieved the Coaches’ player award. When asked about what this means to him, he said:

It feels pretty good getting the award, myself and Alex have done a lot of work over the last few years and I feel like I have applied myself in a role assisting Alex with coaching at all levels. I am definitely honored to receive this award.

Speaking on his plans for the upcoming season Harry said,

⁠For me this year coming, I want to build on my performance from last season. Overall my goal for the year is to help get back to those top spots battling with every team week in week out.

Head Coach Alex Murray said the following about Cloutmans return,

I’m really pleased to announce the return of Harry. Clouts was an integral part of our squad last year and was the deserved recipient of the coaches player of the year award.
His commitment and dedication as well as his support off the ice has helped improve our player pathway and was the key reason the NIHL 2 had their most successful season in their history.

He continued on to discuss Harry’s expected impact on the roster next season,

On the ice last season, Harry took on more responsibility and was an influential member of our second powerplay unit as part of our defensive core. I know Harry has been working hard this summer to get to the next level.

Harry Cloutman will continue to wear #18 for both clubs for the 2024-25 season.
His jersey will be owned and loaned by Morgan’s Barbers.

Solent Devils 2024/25 Signing Alert – Jack Hoppes

SOLENT ADD HOPPES

September approaches and the Solent Devils continue to build their 2024-25 roster.

Today, the Solent Devils add 19 year old British defenceman Jack Hoppes to the club!

Jack Hoppes brings more youth to the Solent Devils defence core from the Streatham Redhawks where he has spent most of his career.

Hoppes has collected a range of high level hockey experience at a young age having played on cup winning Streatham Redhawks teams as well as playing for the NIHL (National) Bees IHC (Now known as Berkshire Bees). Jack also played for Great Britain U18 in 2022-23.

Jack’s 2023-24 season was split across the Streatham Redhawks (NIHL 1) and Bees IHC (NIHL) where he played 28 games where he picked up 4 points as a defenceman.

Jack had this to say about joining the Solent Devils,

It feels great to be given the opportunity to get involved with the team and I’m looking forward to competing with such a strong squad.

When asked what helped him choose to sign with Solent, Hoppes said,

I’ve only heard good things about Solent, whether that be the fans, the players or the coaching staff. So when given the opportunity it felt like the right move for me.

Regarding his goals for next season, Jack Hoppes said the following,

Next season I would like to do my part in bringing home some silverware and playing with the constant compete they had last season.

Head Coach Alex Murray had this to say about the addition of Jack to his roster,

I’m delighted to have secured the signing of one of the leagues most exciting prospects.

Although only young, Jack has experience of playing national with the Bees and also winning trophies at Streatham.

He is a strong puck playing right handed defender who is good on the puck and can help us on our powerplay with his puck playing ability. It gives us an additional options in lots of scenarios and strengthens our D core.

Hoppes will be wearing #25 on his jersey for the club for the 2024-25 season.

Solent Devils 2024/25 Signing Alert – Calumn Perella-Fox

CAPTAIN CALUMN COLLECTS THE “C”

Today, the Solent Devils are announce the 5th captain in Devils history and the re-signing of veteran defenceman #44 Calumn Perella-Fox!

Perella-Fox returns to the club for after a season which saw him collect 12 points in 27 regular season games alongside 4 playoff appearances.

Perella-Fox is no stranger to a leadership role having been captain of his team as a junior as well as being a staple in the Devils locker room. Last season also saw Calumn step in as role of captain during previous captain Alex Cole’s mid-season injury.

Speaking on his return, Calumn said this,

Feels great! I didn’t give it a second thought! I was always coming back, the team, the lads and the fans are like a second family to me. I’m excited about getting back on the ice & hopefully we can bring some silverware back this year.

We asked Calumn, “How do you feel being named the 5th club captain in Solent Devils history?” Perella-Fox said the following,

It’s a massive privilege and means a lot to be asked. I’m very excited to take it on. I got a taste of it when I stepped in as interim captain last season for a few games. I’m very much a team first guy and give everything on the ice. I’m looking forward to leading the team next season with this intensity.

At the Solent Devils presentation evening, Calumn Perella-Fox recieved the player’s player award. When asked about what this means to him, he said:

Receiving players player is an award everyone wants. Getting the recognition from the lads is a massive backing and always such a great trophy to receive.

Head Coach Alex Murray had this to say about his latest addition to the 2024-25 roster,

Im delighted to be able to appoint Calumn as club Captain and have him re-sign for the club.

Calumn is the glue that holds this team together. He is the players choice and a natural born leader in our dressing room. The entire team look to Calumn for motivation, leadership and he ensures everyone is giving their all at practise and games. Over recent years Calumn has led without the need of a letter on his jersey and now he gets the reward he deserves.

Speaking on his new partnership of Coach and Captain, Murray said,

I can’t wait to work with Cal as we look to integrate this new generation of Solent players in with the old guard.

Calumn Perella-Fox will wear #44 for the club with “C” on the front of his jersey for the 2024-25 season. Calumn’s Jersey will be owned and loaned by Jan and Paul Baverstock.

Solent Devils 2024/25 Signing Alert – Dan Lackey

LACKEY LINES UP FOR SOLENT

Today, the Solent Devils have added another veteran player to their new roster for the 2024-2025 season in British utility player Dan Lackey!

Lackey returns to the team for his 7th season with the club after a successful season with the club last year. The 2023-24 season saw Lackey collect 17 points across 23 games played with him also picking up 2 points across 3 playoff games.

Speaking on his return Lackey said,

Solent just feels like “home” now, it’s a great club with awesome volunteers and fans who make is so much fun! It’s a pleasure to come back and help the team push on and challenge for some silverware.

Reflecting on the end of last season, he added

It was really tough, especially after watching the boys beat the league favourites on the Saturday from a hotel room – I can tell you it’s more stressful to watch then it is to play!!! The lads were so good in that game and gave their all, I think we were just out of gas for the final.

Dan concluded by stating his goals for next season,

As always, prove the doubters/critics wrong as we do every year. And hopefully this time bring home some silverware!

Player and Head Coach Alex Murray said this about his latest signing,

I’m really pleased to bring back Lackey for the 2024-25 season. Dan is an integral part of our core and someone the team look to lead on the ice. His experience and work ethic is invaluable and a key reason for our success. His ability to play in several positions and on both special teams means he is an integral part of our team and an important piece to be returning.

Lackey will continue to wear #9 for the 2024-25 season.

Solent Devils 2024/25 Signing Alert – Cain Russell

SOLENT LOCK IN RUSSELL

As September and the 2024-2025 season approaches, the Solent Devils continue to add to their new roster.

Today, the Solent Devils would like to announce the return of British forward and fan favourite Cain Russell!

Russell returns to the club for his second year after a playoff performance which saw him pick up 2 goals against the Streatham Redhawks which helped allow the Devils to advance to the playoff final.

Cain’s regular season last season consisted of 23 games. During those games he picked up a total of 21 points. Cain was also a key playoff performer for the team finishing with 2 points across his 3 games played.

Russell had this to say about why he chose to return to Solent,

It feels good I’m excited to be back here. There was two main factors for me one being the reason I came here originally it works with all goings on in my personal life and the second factor is a joint thing between the boys in the room and the fans in the stands both made me feel welcome last season and I feel I had a lot of fun with everyone.

Reflecting on the end of last season, Cain said the following,

It was a real shame about the final, but I’m looking to jump straight back into the season with the boys and maintain that form and level of hockey we showcased in the semi final.

Solent Devil’s Head Coach Alex Murray had this to say about his latest 2024-2025 addition,

I’m delighted to have retained Cain for next season. He was highly sought after this summer, as most of our team always is, but I’m really pleased with Cain’s loyalty and commitment to the club where it all started for him.

Reflecting on his performance last season, Murray went on to say,

Cain had an up and down season last year which was plagued by injury but his quality shown through in the finals weekend and I will be expected the see that again this season as he takes on more responsibility offensively

Cain will continue to wear the #96 jersey for the club.

Solent Devils 2024/25 Signing Alert – Aaron Taylor

SOLENT LOCK IN TAYLOR BETWEEN THE PIPES

Today the Solent Devils continue preperations for the start of the 2024-2025 season by securing the resigning of last seasons starting netminder Aaron Taylor.

After a successful return to ice in the regular season and a dominant playoff performance, Taylor proved to be a reliable puckstopper for the team.

Aaron’s regular season consisted of 23 games played where he put up a 13-6-1 record with a impressive .910 save percentage and a goals against average of 3.32. In the playoffs, Taylor’s numbers lead the way with 4 games played, 3-1-0 record with a .929 save percentage and a goals against average of 3.00.

When asked how he felt about his return, Taylor stated,

I’m really excited to see what we can achieve, I feel our league position can and will be improved on this year.

When asked to reflect on last season, Taylor replied,

There were highs and lows throughout the campaign, however I believe we beat everyone at least once, which highlights the talent we have within the squad.

Taylor had this to say regarding the highlights of last season,

There were a few I believe the first week of January was a good one and personally gave me the belief to kick on, I think my save percentage from that moment on until the end of the season was between the 92-94% mark, finding consistency to my game was important.

When asked what his goals are for next season, Aaron said the following,

To win some silverware with the club and enjoy it – You never know when time will be called on your playing days.

Speaking on his latest acquisition, Head Coach Alex Murray said,

I’m delighted to have been able to secure Aaron for a second consecutive season. When we talked last summer it was a case of coming in and doing the job required in the absence of Chico. I think he has done that a so much more! His performance throughout the season have stolen us games and kept up competitive, none other more than the Playoff semi final against Streatham.

Therefore I am really pleased he has decided to stay another year as we look to build off last season.

Taylor will return and continuing to wear the #92 jersey for the club.
