- Mark Pitts
- 180 lbs
27 year old centreman returns following a successful debut season with the Devils in which he picked up 26 points in 24 games. It was this, in addition to his hard work and energy during games which saw him pick up the Players Player award at the end of season presentation.
Speaking on his return to Solent, Pitts has spoken of the positive atmosphere the team has, and how it impacted his decision…
“I’m happy to once again be signing for Solent. Whether we were winning or losing, the atmosphere and team spirit throughout last season was always positive and the desire to improve and keep pushing forward was evident in the second half of the season. It’s an exciting prospect to be part of the same set up once more and continue with the club’s development. Personally I feel my start to last season was an inconsistent one this is because I was getting use to playing in a different league, in a new team set up but after coming back from injury in January I felt like I had my consistency and confidence back in my game and look to carry that through into the 17/18 season. With a solid core of the guys back next season I have the utmost confidence that the team Alex is putting together can challenge for the title.”
Speaking on his 7th signing of the summer, head coach Alex Murray is excited at adding Pitts to the line up
“I’m really please to bring Mark back to the team. His effort and work rate during games gave everyone something to strive for. Not many people can move the coach from his preferred position, but after seeing how well Mark operates as a centreman I moved myself out to the wing, which is a weird way of giving him a complement. The whole team was really impressed with Mark’s debut season and he is well respected in the dressing room. His award at the end of season was fully deserved and we are looking for Mark to push on and emulate his achievements from last year.”
