Canadian Import Returns

11 months ago By Alex Murray

Tonight the Solent Devils are delighted to announce that Canadian Forward Drew Campbell.

Campbell who hails from Hamilton, Ontario , Canada returns for his third spell with the club having previously iced for the Devils from 2008 - 2012 and then again during the 2014-15 season. The sniper sits second in the Solent Devils all time scoring charts having recorded 243 in 105 games.

Speaking on signing for the club, the 40 year old forward spoke of his excitement "I feel good about signing for the Devils, I still remember the first night back in 2008, when I went down to meet Paul Fitzpatrick (club manager), we had a good talk and I knew that Solent will always feel like home. So I'm excited to be back.

Campbell continued by stating that this move has been on the cards for a while "I was talking with Alex through the summer and things just didn't work out as I had to much family and work commitments. But since the New Year. Things have changed and made it possible to play again. So I was thinking that I would get in touch with Alex, but I guess he was thinking the same thing as I got a message that day from him."

The 5'11" centre man has set some goals for the season ahead 'My goals are to help out the team in anyway Alex need me to. There is a good young core here and if it's even just giving advise then I'm willing to do so (as I am old enough to be their dad) . As the team goes its to get as high up the league as we can. Every year this team has improved under Alex, so we need to keep that up'

Head coach Alex Murray has spoken oh his delight in capturing Campbell "I'm delighted Drew has decided to sign, I wanted to have him at the start of the season but things didn't work out. Following injuries and suspensions I thought I would ask again over the festive period and I was pleasantly surprised that Drew was keen to come on board. Drew will bring stability, experience and goals to the line up which is something we have been a little light of this season."

Campbell who will wear the number 23 jersey will be in the line up this weekend as we face London at home - Sunday 8th January, Gosport Arena. Doors open at 6pm. For information on how to sponsor Drew please contact -
